The story of Thousand Needles.
Thousand Needles is a deep canyon of towering stone spires south of the Barrens, so tall and narrow that the land seems to bristle with them. The Great Lift carries travellers down from the Barrens' southern edge into the canyon floor, and the high mesas above are home to tauren who long ago made their villages on the needle tops.
The tauren of Freewind Post live there, on mesas linked by rope bridges, and they have enemies on every side. Centaur clans roam the canyon floor, and the Grimtotem, renegade tauren who refuse Cairne Bloodhoof's alliance with the Horde, fight them for control of the mesas. With the Horde's help, Freewind's people are pushing back.
In the south-east, the canyon opens onto the Shimmering Flats, a blinding white salt pan where the goblins and gnomes settle their old rivalry the only way engineers know: the Mirage Raceway, where rival teams race rocket cars across the flats to prove whose engineering is better. Both sides bet on the outcome, and both sides cheat.
