The story of Feralas.
Feralas is a green surprise in the dry south of Kalimdor: a misty, rain-soaked jungle of giant trees between the wastes of Desolace and the canyons of Thousand Needles. It is old elven country, scattered with the ruins of the Highborne, and today most of those ruins belong to the ogres.
The greatest of them is Dire Maul, the broken city of Eldre'Thalas. The Gordunni ogres have taken much of it, but deep inside, the last of its Highborne, the Shen'dralas, still cling on under Prince Tortheldrin, feeding their magic on the power of a demon they hold captive there. What they have done to survive has not left them unchanged.
The rest of the zone is just as crowded. Yetis roam the hills, harpies nest in the cliffs, and the Woodpaw gnolls and the renegade Grimtotem tauren both have camps in the forest. In the north lies one of the four great trees that lead into the Emerald Dream, and the green dragons who guard them have not all stayed true to their charge. Off the western coast, naga hold the far islands.
Both factions keep a presence. The night elves hold Feathermoon Stronghold on an island off the coast and the outpost of Thalanaar on the eastern border, while the tauren of the Horde camp at Camp Mojache in the east.
