The story of Mulgore.
Mulgore is the homeland of the tauren: a wide, gentle valley of golden grass, lakes and grazing kodo, ringed by mountains and reached through a single pass from the Barrens. For centuries the tauren wandered the plains of Kalimdor, harried by the centaur, without a land to call their own. When Thrall's orcs came west during the Third War, they helped Cairne Bloodhoof's tribes drive the centaur back, and the tauren claimed Mulgore, the first homeland they had held in generations. Cairne raised Thunder Bluff on the high mesas as a city for every tribe, and the tauren bound their fate to the Horde.
Mulgore is a place of tradition. Young tauren prove themselves on the Great Hunt in its wilds, and they begin their training at Camp Narache on Red Cloud Mesa, in the south of the valley.
Peace here is never complete. Goblin prospectors of the Venture Company dig in the eastern mountains and have seized the valley's water wells. Dwarves from Bael Modan have opened a dig at the Bael'dun site, which the tauren see as an insult to the Earth Mother. Palemane gnolls, Windfury harpies and quilboar from the ravines raid the edges of the plains, and the renegade Grimtotem tribe, who resent Cairne's alliance with the orcs, have been caught poisoning the wells of their own people.
