The story of Stonetalon Mountains.
The Stonetalon Mountains are a tall, rugged range along the western edge of the Barrens, whose highest summit, Stonetalon Peak, has long been sacred to both night elves and tauren. Forests once covered their slopes from end to end. Today much of that is gone.
The goblins of the Venture Company came for the timber and the ore, and they have stripped the mountains without mercy. Windshear Crag is a wasteland of stumps, soot and oil-fouled water, worked by shredders and goblin labourers, and wildfires have swept through what the loggers left behind. The spirits of the land are angry, so angry that even the shamans of Orgrimmar have heard their cries.
Older inhabitants still hold out among the ruined slopes. Harpies nested here long before anyone else came; there are fewer of them now, but they remain dangerous. The tauren keep Sun Rock Retreat in the heart of the range as a waypoint and a watch on the goblins, and the Darkspear trolls of Malaka'jin hide in the southern woods. High on the peak in the north, the night elves keep an outpost near the old barrow dens and groves, where keepers of the forest and dryads still stand watch.
