The story of Hillsbrad Foothills.
Hillsbrad Foothills are green hills, farms and orchards along the shore south of the Alterac Mountains, and one of the most bitterly fought-over corners of the old Kingdom of Lordaeron. The humans who still live here have not given up their land to the Scourge, and they are not about to give it up to the Forsaken either.
On the coast, the town of Southshore stands for the Alliance, with the farmers of Hillsbrad Fields beside it. In the hills to the north-east lies Tarren Mill, taken by the Forsaken and their Horde allies, and between the two towns raids and reprisals never seem to stop. The Forsaken have dark plans here; in their camps in the hills, terrible experiments are carried out on whatever they capture.
The foothills carry older history too. Durnholde Keep, on its hill above the coast, was where captured orcs were held after the Second War, where Orgrim Doomhammer once broke in to free the troll Zul'jin, and where a young orc called Thrall was raised as a gladiator slave by Aedelas Blackmoore before he escaped and set his people free. Today the keep is a ruin held by the Syndicate. In the far south-west, the Azurelode Mine once belonged to Gilneas, before the Greymane Wall cut that kingdom off from the world.
