The story of Badlands.
The Badlands are a red, broken desert of mesas, dust and dry canyons in the south of Khaz Modan, between Loch Modan and the Searing Gorge. Little grows here, and what lives here is mostly hostile: Dustbelcher ogres in their scattered camps, Dark Iron dwarves on raiding parties from the south, and black dragons nesting in Lethlor Ravine and the Dustbowl, where the black dragonflight keeps watch over its own designs.
The Badlands also hide one of the great secrets of the dwarves. In the north-east, near Loch Modan, lies Uldaman, a vast fortress built by the titans and long buried under the rock. Inside are earthen, the stone servants of the titans, and records that speak of the very origins of the dwarven race, along with savage troggs who have overrun its lower halls. The Explorers' League of Ironforge has come to dig, and the Dark Irons want whatever the titans left behind just as badly. Newly unearthed in the middle of the desert, the Tomb of the Watchers hints that Uldaman's halls run further than anyone knew.
The Horde has a single foothold in all of Khaz Modan, and it is here: Kargath, an outpost built into the cliffs on the western edge of the Badlands, home of the expedition Thrall sent to destroy Rend Blackhand and the Blackrock orcs who still serve the old Horde's ways.
