Story

The story of Duskwood.

Duskwood is a forest of perpetual twilight south of Elwynn, where the trees grow black and twisted, wolves and spiders hunt under the boughs and the dead do not stay buried. It was not always like this. Once it was Brightwood, a sunny part of Elwynn Forest with towns at Grand Hamlet and Raven Hill. When Medivh died in nearby Karazhan, the fel magic released by his death blighted the land, and the forest fell into a gloom it has never escaped.

The people who stayed live in fear. Grand Hamlet, now called Darkshire, is the last real town, ruled by Lord Ello Ebonlocke and guarded by the Night Watch, a militia of farmers and townsfolk who patrol the main road. Their enemies are many. Raven Hill and its cemetery are overrun with undead raised by the necromancer Morbent Fel. Worgen, savage wolf-men, have spread through the woods from Roland's Doom, an old mine where something terrible was let loose. Ghouls, ghosts and old grudges haunt the forest, from the vengeful spirit Mor'Ladim to the dark legend of Stalvan Mistmantle.

In the west, the Twilight Grove hides one of the great trees that lead into the Emerald Dream, and the green dragons who guard it have begun to act strangely. Something is wrong in the Dream, and Duskwood may feel it first.
