The story of Redridge Mountains.
The Redridge Mountains are a range of red-earthed hills and pine forests east of Elwynn, gathered around the blue waters of Lake Everstill. They belong to the Kingdom of Stormwind, but with the kingdom's politics in turmoil and its army stretched thin, the people here have largely been left to defend themselves.
They have plenty to defend against. Before the present troubles, the Blackrock orcs allied with the human warlock Morganth and the Shadowhide gnolls and seized the eastern half of the mountains, taking Stonewatch Keep. Now the Blackrock clan, returned as the Dark Horde, rides out from Blackrock Mountain to the north to raid the roads, with a camp in Render's Valley. The Shadowhide gnolls hold the hills around the Tower of Ilgalar, murlocs live under Lake Everstill, raptors nest in the high ground, and the fishermen still whisper about something large in the lake.
The town of Lakeshire, on the lake's western shore, is the heart of the region. Magistrate Solomon keeps sending for help from Stormwind and its neighbours, while Marshal Marris, by the town's broken bridge, puts every willing adventurer to work against the gnolls and orcs. In the south-west, the crossroads at Three Corners leads back to Elwynn and on to Duskwood.
