Goldshire is the village at the centre of Elwynn Forest, where the roads from Northshire, Stormwind, Westfall and Redridge come together. It is old by human reckoning, founded more than a thousand years before the Dark Portal as Stormwind's people spread out from the city.
It has been knocked down more than once. Gnolls from Redridge attacked it during the Gnoll War and were driven off. In the First War it was among the last towns to fall to the Horde before Stormwind itself, and it was rebuilt after the Second War when Turalyon oversaw the return of Elwynn's people.
Marshal Dughan keeps the peace with the Stormwind Guard. When murlocs from Stone Cairn Lake killed several townsfolk, guards among them, he put a bounty on them, and work like that is often the first a new human adventurer finds. At the heart of town stands the Lion's Pride Inn, famous as one of the most respectable taverns in Azeroth, where Innkeeper Farley keeps rooms and several of the town's trainers keep their tables.
