The story of Ironforge.
Ironforge is the ancient capital of the dwarves, carved deep into the mountain of the same name in northern Dun Morogh. The first dwarves founded it more than two and a half thousand years ago, and built it around the Great Forge, the molten heart of the city, beside an altar to the titan Khaz'goroth. For centuries all the dwarven clans lived here together.
That unity broke in the War of the Three Hammers. When High King Modimus died, the Bronzebeard, Wildhammer and Dark Iron clans fought for the throne. The Bronzebeards won and drove the others out: the Wildhammers went north to found Grim Batol and later Aerie Peak, and the Dark Irons went south, where their sorcery would one day wake Ragnaros. Ironforge has been the Bronzebeards' city ever since.
It held when the Horde besieged it in the Second War, and its dwarves fought the Scourge in Lordaeron in the Third. King Magni Bronzebeard rules from the High Seat beside the Great Forge, and when Gnomeregan fell, he gave the gnomes refuge and a quarter of their own, Tinker Town. Beneath the city, the gnomes' Deeprun Tram runs all the way to Stormwind. In the Hall of Explorers, High Explorer Magellas and the Explorers' League dig into the dwarves' own past, which they have begun to suspect began with the titans.
